How to Prep Your Skin for Makeup
Expert Tips from 707 Artistry’s Founder
Before 707 Artistry…
My 707 Faves, as you all know, I’m no makeup artist, but my passion for sourcing authentic beauty products was born out of what I fondly call “vanity with purpose.”
As a teenager, I was that girl who spent every bit of pocket money on skincare and makeup. I had combination-to-oily, sensitive, acne-prone skin, and I could sweat for Africa! My biggest frustration was acne and the dark spots it left behind.
Without the luxury of sunscreens being popular for dark skin back then, I focused on habits; washing my hands religiously, using a separate towel to prevent cross-contamination, and sticking to my micellar water and gentle cleanser.
Gradually, my skin began to heal. That early skincare discipline laid the foundation for what would later become 707 Artistry’s commitment to transparency and excellence in skincare retail.

After 707 Artistry…
Fast forward to the birth of 707 Artistry, skincare evolved into a global movement. My product shelf grew from affordable brands like Neutrogena and Simple to include high-performance favorites like Ole Henriksen, Paula’s Choice, Farsali, and Urban Skin Rx.
I became my own lab rat, testing products personally before recommending them to customers. By 2019, I learned that good skin is the foundation of great makeup.
